Hypnotherapy Language Secrets

Hypnotherapy is at once mysterious and intriguing with many people searching for a supposed ‘hypnotherapy language secret’ to reveal its truth.

The methods that hypnotherapists use to induce behavioral changes have not been written about in great detail and often the ability of a therapist to produce those changes have been hard for even the therapist to describe if required.

In the last 30 years two scientists now recognized by most as having developed the science we know as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), went on a mission to understand the complexities of the hypnotic techniques of certain hypnotherapists in an attempt to be able to model their behavior and produce similar results in clients of their own.

They have provided us with concrete explanations of some of the inner workings of hypnosis and in doing so given every day individuals the ability to employ to some extent the technology hypnosis offers in their every day lives.

This article will examine the science of hypnosis and attempt to illustrate just a few of its more powerful techniques and principles.

The Map is Not The Territory

Hypnosis is based on the notion that each of us lives our lives in reaction not to what is actual reality but to a model of reality (known as a representation) that over the course of our existence we have created.

This explains why two people can react completely differently when confronted by the same situation. Each person has a set of beliefs, fears, likes, dislikes, wants, experiences, values and thoughts that create a model of the world and of reality to which they often unconsciously adhere.

This is often why communications between two people goes haywire. One person is trying to convey a message from their reality to someone with a completely different reality where every chance exists that the communicator’s message has a completely different meaning! It follows then that habits such as smoking or overeating are the result of behaviors caused by these models we have of reality.

By altering those models, a hypnotherapist can alter behaviour. This is the focus of any type of therapist, whatever their chosen method; to alter a patient’s way of thinking to allow access to a more positive and beneficial type of behaviour.

The only difference is that in the majority of cases, the methods of hypnotherapy are able to achieve the same results in much less time than traditional therapy. The question is how?

What is Hypnotherapy?

What is Hypnotherapy?

By Karen Branch, Certified Hypnotherapist

Hypnosis . . . for some the very word still conjures up the image of a mysterious figure in a black cape swinging a chained watch before mesmerized subjects’ eyes! Even today, misconceptions about hypnosis abound. With new clients, dispelling the myths around hypnosis is an important starting point. Contrary to those old perceptions, hypnosis will not cause you to bark like a dog, succumb to another’s power over you, or do or say anything you would not normally do.

So, what is hypnosis and the practice of hypnotherapy? Hypnosis is a very safe, natural state of mind that allows you to tap into more of your mind and begin using it to achieve benefits you desire. While in hypnosis, you are deeply relaxed, while at the same time focused and alert. This facilitates communication with your subconscious mind, enabling you to reprogram habit patterns, fear & phobias, limitations and blockages and so much more.

It is estimated that most people only use approximately 12% of the mind’s real capacity. This percentage represents the conscious, intellectual mind. The other 88% is the powerhouse lying in the subconscious mind. This portion of the mind is emotional, subjective and conditioned by experiences and habits patters from the past. It is motivated by just two things: the pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain. It’s the area of the brain where the “fight or flight” response lives. The good news is the subconscious mind is very suggestible and responds beautifully to new ideas, images and suggestions, enabling you to make positive changes in your life!

It’s very easy to enter the state of mind known as hypnosis. In fact, you are in a similar state twice a day, every day of your life – just as you are falling off to sleep at night or awakening in the morning. In hypnosis, it is as if you hit the “pause button” between awake and asleep. It’s all based on brain wave activity. Science divides our mind into four categories based on brain wave cycles per second. Beta is wide awake, Delta is deep sleep. In between wide awake and deep sleep are Alpha and Theta, the states associated with deep relaxation, meditation and hypnosis. Just entering into these states regularly promotes peace, well-being and even healing.

Modern hypnotherapy can be applied to many different areas of life. Most commonly, it is known as an excellent method to quit smoking or lose weight. And it can be utilized for so much more. With almost anything you would like to change or improve in your life, hypnosis can be a powerful tool for helping you to reach your goals!

Hypnotherapy training – developing inner-strength

This script is designed to help hypnotherapists work with clients who are experiencing inner-strength issues.

In using this resource please remember that clients are individuals and you should always tailor your sessions to meet their specific needs. As you build your practice, try not to rely on scripts but instead use them as a way of stimulating ideas and experimenting with language. Attending a well-recognized hypnotherapy course is a good way to develop a wide range of skills and expertise.

Weight management script

And in this wonderful state of physical as well as mental relaxation…  you can be surprised how easy it is… to let your mind wander…  and as you’re wondering where your mind will wander… you can imagine resting peacefully inside a bubble… as the bubble floats gently… over a tranquil meadow.  And I don’t know what colour the bubble is… because this is your bubble… a bubble that is here for you.  And I don’t know what peaceful sounds you might hear… or how wonderfully still the silence can be at times… because this is your bubble… a bubble that is here for you.  And even though at times the bubble bounces softly against the warm grass… it never breaks… because the bubble is strong… and you can rest peacefully knowing at all times… that this is your bubble… and the bubble will protect you… no matter where you travel…

Floating gently now… notices how easily you the bubble can move up… and down… under your control… as you continue to float over the meadow.

And already you can feel… what a comforting effect… being inside the bubble has on your mind… and your body… safe in the knowledge that nothing can hurt you… and that you are in complete control.

And in the bubble you are calm and collected… in the bubble you have all the time you need to think… all the time you need to feel… all the time you need to react… in the way you want to react… to anything outside the bubble…

And I wonder whether you’ve begun to realise that there are no worries inside the bubble… no self-doubt… only the positive and reassuring belief… that you have all the time… and resources you need… to construct your relationship with the world…

And as the bubble continues to float… you can once again be surprised how easy it is to… look down and see yourself… like watching a movie except you can move around and see yourself from different angles… moving up… and down… completely calm… in complete safety… and control…

And because you feel so calm… so safe… so in control… you can imagine now that you’re watching an event from your past… perhaps it’s an event in which you wish you had acted differently…

And you can imagine now… all the ways you might have acted differently… if only the bubble had been there to make you feel calm… and safe… and in complete control…

And as you float gently into the scene… becoming yourself… revisiting the event through your own eyes… your own ears… how wonderfully reassuring it is… to feel yourself reacting… exactly as you want to react… within the safety of the bubble… completely calm… and in complete control…

And you know that even after you wake… as you go about your life after this session… the bubble will remain with you… all you have to do is imagine it… and all harsh words… impoliteness… undue pressures… all negative influences… will bounce off the surface of the bubble… leaving you safe… and calm… and in complete control… giving you all the time you need… to construct your relationship with the world… according to your own rules…

Get Rid of your Allergies and Migraine Headaches With Hypnotherapy

25 years ago I suffered from Migraine Headaches to the point that I would pass out from the headache pain.

At the same time I was seeing an allergist 3 times a week for allergies to grass, dust mites, mold, roses, 13 different plants and trees and 20 other items. I was a mess.

I tried various medications and treatments. None of these helped me. What helped me was Hypnotherapy. It completely eliminated all my headaches and allergies and for over 20 years, now, and I haven’t had even a hint of any problems, since. No drugs or medicine, either.

Americans, today, are suffering from a serious pandemic of diseases associated with dysfunction of the immune system. These include asthma, food and pollen allergies, mold, dust and chemical allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, eczema, and a host of other conditions. Read the list again of these conditions. Notice that all of them are growing rapidly in western civilization. Is there anyone among you who has not suffered from one or more of these conditions?

While Doctors have understood for years that chronic stress in our lives can trigger a wide variety of immune system disorders they don’t always explain to their patients what processes cause the normal stresses of daily life to turn into disease. Nor do they show us how we can deal more effectively with the stresses in our lives to eliminate these processes and the symptoms that result from them.

Hypnotherapy has the answers. Hypnosis is, first and foremost, a state of deep relaxation and peace and thus a premier remedy for stress.

Hypnotherapists know that even the most ordinary stresses can become overwhelming if the subconscious mind clouds these experiences and tasks with negative significance based upon childhood or other traumas.

While many of my clients express skepticism at first about the possibility of accomplishing something so farfetched, one session is all they need to feel the enormous power of the work in their own bodies, in their own beliefs…and in their lives.

If you suffer from Allergies or Migraines, consider eliminating them with Hypnotherapy, as I did.

The Perceptions of Modern Hypnotherapy

The old Svengali-like perception of hypnotherapy often associated with mind control is rapidly being replaced by its effectiveness in dealing with a wide variety of psychological and psychosomatic (physical issues confirmed in the mind) issues.

People suffering from negative emotions, bad behaviours and other psychological issues can use the help of a skilfull hypnotherapist to change their patterns and replace them with more positive ones.

Despite its benefits, many people are confused about hypnotherapy and hypnosis in general and they often avoid hypnosis as a potential treatment due to this.

Some of the obvious misconceptions are: –

1.”I fear getting stuck in the state of hypnosis”

This is a very common fear up until today. The good news is that there have been no recorded cases of patients getting “stuck” in the state of hypnosis.

Rarely a person can enjoy the experience of being hypnotized so much, that they appear unresponsive to the hypnotherapist’s instructions to emerge from hypnosis. Other than that, you remain in control; you can – if the need should arise – open your eyes at any point.

2.”I do not wish to be controlled by my hypnotherapist!!”

Many people associate the evil Svengali character who would use his powers to control people, with hypnosis. This is not true whatsoever and the media and stage hypnosis is also partly to blame for this common fear that people have.

It is important to remember that the patient is always in control throughout the hypnosis period and can accept or reject any suggestions that might be passed on by the therapist.

3.”I do not think I can go in to a state of hypnosis”

The ability to go into a state of hypnosis is a skill that can be developed over time. Some people are naturally more talented at hypnosis, just as they may be more talented at music or arts, but everybody can improve their hypnotic abilities with practice.

A skilled therapist will work individually with each client to make sute that they have the right tools and understandings to get the desired results with hypnosis.

4.”Will I still be conscious?”

Contrary to popular belief, many patients report back that they feel more aware and in touch with their surroundings during hypnosis. This is because the mind is very relaxed and still.

5.”Will my therapist know all my secrets?”

Again, this is impossible because as mentioned earlier, patients are always in control throughout the session. The only thing that has been reported by patients is that they feel more accepting and open to the positive suggestions made by their therapist.

This is one of the reasons that materials discovered in a hypnotic state are not admitted in court. A person can lie very easily in hypnosis if they wish to do so.

Once people understand hypnosis better, they are more able to use it effectively as a patient and get better results.

Hypnosis has been developed throughout decades and people are finding it to be more effective then conventional routes in many cases.

How can an asthmatic benefit from hypnotherapy?

Asthma is a lung disease that affects over 470,000 people in Ireland to a greater or lesser degree. While there are many theories as to why this is, the most likely causes are either changes in our environment, or else changes in the way our bodies react to the environment.

To date, the medical response to asthma has largely been the prescribing of inhalers and other medications to control the asthma symptoms. And while this approach is vitally necessary, it places an over-emphasis on the body’s role in the asthmatic attack.

Some of the triggering factors with asthma may be learned. What I mean by this is that a person may associate, for instance, stress, with having an asthma attack. Panic and anxiety are well known to increase the severity of asthma attacks, and it is perfectly natural for the person who is having breathing difficulties to feel a certain amount of fear (‘Am I going to die because I can’t breathe?’). These learned tiggers and anxiety based reactions can be helped by hypnotherapy.

I am a qualified hypnotherapist from Cork in Ireland and I can help the asthmatic in a number of ways

I can help you to retrain your breathing to use nasal breathing techniques I can help your subconscious mind to understand that some of it’s triggers are learned and maybe no longer relevant. I can help you to gain control over your asthma attack and to replace feelings of fear with feelings of calm and control. In some cases, I can help you to understand the reasons for the onset of your asthma. This can help some people to overcome their asthma completely

Please note, I would always work in conjunction with your GP or asthma specialist and would never recommend to a client that they stop or reduce their asthma medication. My clients safety is my uppermost concern, and I would suggest that you should keep this in mind whatever hypnotherapist you decide to consult in your local area. A reputable hypnotherapist would never suggest any change to your medication.

Hypnotherapy for Procrastination – Just Another Time Waster!

I know some hypnotherapists will **** me for saying this but hypnotherapy for procrastination is a total waste of time! I am sorry to those that believe this but people who procrastinate will look for any way to overcome their problem without them having to do anything about it and being hypnotized to suddenly transform your habits, fears, and poor time management is just another way to procrastinate and waste your time.

Every products or service involving hypnotism promises the world but delivers very little; it is a placebo for the gullible, the new magic pill cure for any modern “disease” you can name.

There are no easy solutions to breaking habits and stopping procrastination, instead you must take practical steps to change your lifestyle and the way you do things starting with developing good time management and often ending up looking deep within yourself and finding subconscious fears and barriers that need to be broken down before you can really achieve the life you want.

Here is a small list of common reasons for procrastination that you can see need more than hypnotherapy to overcome.

Fear of failure – Why try when you might fail!

Fear of success – I can’t handle the responsibility of success!

Poor time management skills – I just can’t find time to do anything!

Lack of direction in life – I don’t know where to put my efforts!

Lack of priorities – Smoking pot is so much more important than studying!

laziness – I just can’t be bothered …

Do you think a man with a candle or a swinging watch can solve these problems?

So please leave the hypnotherapy for procrastination in a dusty old box next to other quackery like leeching blood, shock therapy and exorcism and get real with your attempts to better yourself!

If you want practical ways to overcome any of the problems listed above then click below to find out real solutions to real problems without hypnotism or anything else that claims can solve all your problems without YOU putting in effort.

Hypnotherapy Hype: Can Hypnosis Help You?

Hypnotherapy is a fast growing method to modify or change behavior. People are using hypnosis for everything from weight loss and pain management to boosting self confidence and to stop smoking. Many people visit a qualified hypnotherapist to take advantage of the therapy, while others take advantage of self-hypnosis through the plethora of self-help resources available. While some people think that hypnosis is nothing but hype, if you want to change or modify your behavior or thoughts on a certain subject you may want to give hypnosis a try.

How Hypnosis Works

There are many different reasons hypnosis works. Our minds are very open to suggestions at all times and hypnosis creates a way for us to program ourselves with positive, empowering and uplifting information that can change our lives in powerful ways. There is no secret to hypnosis.

Here Are a Few Techniques Hypnosis Employs:

1) Relaxation: Most people are most receptive while sleeping or extremely relaxed. The hypnotherapist always asks if you are comfortable and undisturbed. If you use CD’s it is okay to fall asleep; our minds absorb more when we are sleeping.

2) Repetition: The more an idea is repeated, the more likely it will be accepted. Think about a TV commercial and how you are more likely to accept a new idea or product when you have seen a commercial fifty or sixty times over a course of several days.

3) Guided Imagery and Visualization: Everything begins in the mind and hypnosis finds a way to implant your mind with images you want, as opposed to the images you currently hold due to repeated patterns. For instance, you must imagine yourself as a non-smoker or a thinner person, before you can start acting in the ways that will bring this into reality.

4) Suggestions: Hypnosis is a way to suggest new ideas into the mind.

Seeing a Hypnotherapist

If you are seeking to try a hypnotherapist, you should make sure they have professional qualifications. There are many different schools and trainings for hypnotherapy and doing your homework in this area will really pay off in the long run. Ask questions. Find out how much they charge, what to expect when you are hypnotized, how long each session will last, how many sessions you will you need and how long the therapist has been in practice. Try to choose a hypnotherapist with a good reputation who has been in practice for a while. Shop around. Most importantly, you will want to have a feeling of trust between yourself and your hypnotherapist. Does this person make you feel at ease? Do you feel safe with him? Do you like his personality and feel that you can trust him with your mind?

Self-Hypnosis: Tapes, CD’s and MP3’s

While seeing a hypnotherapist is a great idea, it is cheaper and more accessible to try hypnotizing yourself. Hypnosis can be self-administered by using online downloads, MP3’s, tapes, or CD’s. Whether you are looking to lose weight, stop smoking, gain social confidence, or curb anxiety, there are a wide variety of resources and products on the market. Hypnosis products can be tried at night upon going to bed. They can also be a great way to wake up in the morning to start your day on a positive note. For the price of one hypnotherapy session, you can buy several different self-hypnosis products to start changing your own mind right away on a host of different subjects. Never listen to hypnosis CD’s while driving your car.

Cure Your Fear of Bridges with Hypnotherapy

rational fear or phobia of crossing bridges is really not that uncommon

Individuals who have this particular fear experience enormous anxiety when confronted with the prospect of having to cross a bridge. High bridges with steep drops are especially frightening, as are bridges over water or gorges.

Often, though not always, this fear may also be combined with other fears such as the fear of heights or claustrophobia.

The individual suffering from gephyrophobia may be fearful that they will lose control or faint.

Fear tends to breed fear and this process can all too easily lead on to feelings of real panic.

Many people who suffer from this particular phobia go to great lengths so that they can avoid crossing bridges. Often they go to great pains to plan their travels so that they do not have to cross over a bridge.

What has happened is that at a deep, subconscious level, the bridge phobic has learned to associate anxiety with the thought of crossing bridges. In all probability, at some time in their past, he or she will have undergone an experience that caused fear and they subconsciously linked this feeling with bridges.

It is as if the person has somehow stopped trusting themselves when it comes to driving over or crossing bridges. And the subconscious is triggering feelings of fear so that he or she will not put themselves in danger.

As far as the conscious mind is concerned, of course, it may be only too clear that such fears are groundless. They may even seem silly. But fear is a feeling, an emotion, and the conscious mind is governed more by logic than feeling.

No matter how hard they might try, the phobic individual is usually powerless to analyze or ‘think away’ their fear.

Fear, like all emotions and feelings, is produced in the subconscious mind and it is in the subconscious mind that the solution lies.

Through the expert use of modern advanced hypnotherapy, we can delve into the subconscious mind and re-educate it. We can readjust and realign it with reality, so that the gephyrophobic person can let go of the fear and return to their normal, natural state.

Even though the thought of driving over or crossing a bridge may seem too difficult for you to contemplate at the moment, the fact is that you can be helped to conquer your fear of bridges and cross them with ease and in the complete absence of anxiety.

Working with a fully qualified and experienced advanced transformational hypnotherapist, you can once again return to the freedom that is your birthright.

Ridiculous Suppositions About Weight Loss With Hypnotherapy

Posthypnotic suggestion, thanks to movies and TV shows, the very word conjures up the impression of a beady-eyed hypno-technician swinging a watch and droning the words, “You are getting sleepy.”

Do a Google search, and you will find millions of web pages focused on the subject, especially weight loss hypnosis. Unfortunately, many websites that sell recorded hypnosis programs for weight loss make wild, unsubstantiated affirmations. I’ve been in professional practice since 1978. So I think that I’m more than competent to set the record straight on weight loss hypnosis.

First of all, hypnotic suggestion is a tool, just like a scalpel is a tool. Just as assorted surgeons have diversified skill levels in the use of a scalpel, varying hypnotists have assorted there are many remarkable forms of hypnosis.

Here are just a couple of the wild suppositions about weight loss hypnosis that I’ve seen on websites, along with the truth of the matter:

“Hypnosis for weight loss will speed up your metabolism.” If you want to know the total truth, the fact of the matter is that weight loss hypnosis can’t directly speed up your metabolism. But it can be very functional at helping to program your subconscious with increased motivation to exercise, and exercise can increase your metabolism. Similarly, hypnotherapy to speed up the metabolism for quick weight loss can be effected by programming the subconscious to motivate the intake of increased amounts of protein, because that intake will step up your metabolic rate.

Posthypnotic suggestion will make you shed some weight. This is false. But weight loss hypnosis can be used to help delete your appetite, so that you eat less, and eating less can help you to drop a few pounds.

The average person’s appetite and urges are caused by two subconscious programs:

A. When you pair eating with any other behavior, the other behavior will trigger cravings for food and a compulsion to eat. This is called a conditioned response. For example, if you eat while you drive, you will automatically get an urge to eat each time you drive your car.

B. When you feel tense, you feel a strong urge to put food into your mouth for relaxation. This is the result of training that you received as an infant. When you got crabby, your mom or dad put a bottle in your mouth. You got distracted, relaxed, and probably fell asleep. Now when you get cranky (anxious or tense), you feel compelled to put something into your mouth for relaxation and pleasure.

C. There is a third unconscious program that is present for some people. It’s called emotional eating. Emotional eating takes place when an individual is motivated to make him or herself fat, because by being fat they will protect themselves in some way.

For example, if a subject got their heart broken in a relationship, their unconscious will usually force them into a behavior that would prevent them from getting their heart broken again. Example: They are motivated to become overweight to keep them out of new relationships, because that will clear out the possibility of another broken heart.

D. I have written several articles on hypnosis for weight loss and compulsive overeating that are available on my website. There are some very effective ways to use hypnotic suggestion to reduce or overcome emotional eating.

So just how can weight loss hypnotherapy fix the above problems? Let’s cover them one at a time.

In paragraph “A” above: Conditioned responses can be “wiped out” easily using a course that I call the “Flash.” The flash trains the unconscious mind to setup a new set of triggers. In the above example, the subject had unconsciously banded together the depiction of food in the hand, with the TV. Each time he / she sat down to watch the TV, the unconscious mind filled in the missing part of the depiction: It “Flashed” the image of the food in the hand, and the subject felt an urge, and a craving to eat.

The Flash is a mode of operation we use to program the subconscious to use the visualization of the TV as a trigger for an impression of yourself watching TV without eating. When we lose the depiction of the food, we lose the cravings.

When we momentarily disassociate (see ourselves from the point of view that another person would), we are not able to sense our feelings (cravings and urges).

When we see ourselves in an activity (watching TV without eating), we feel a strong compulsion to generate that behavior. So the subject loses the cravings, and actually gets a compulsion to reject food.

In paragraph “B” above: The subject is eating and drinking for relaxation and pleasure. We teach the subject self-hypnosis for weight loss, because the very essence of the hypnotic state is deep relaxation.

And we utilize the “Flash” to program the unconscious to use the mental pictures that are triggering feelings of annoyance and aggravation, as triggers for secondary mental images and thoughts that will trigger feelings of relaxation. When the subject feels more relaxed overall, oral urges are greatly diminished.

In paragraph “C” above: We discussed emotional eating which makes the person overweight. The “behavior” of being overweight then provides some sort of emotional protection. So we use a mode of operation called an NLP Six-Step Reframe for weight loss, which programs the unconscious to be responsible for making the subject automatically substitute some other larger acceptable behavior that will provide the same emotional protection, in place of being overweight. And that reframe will delete the craving to eat for emotional purposes.

Self-hypnosis for weight loss can be a very powerful method. I can only uncover the tip of the iceberg in this short characterization. Please see my website for larger comprehensive articles and information.
