Hypnotherapy In Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Hypnotherapy is an application of hypnosis for therapeutic benefits. It can be used in areas such as medicine, sport, and for development of a persons well-being. I have been working as a hypnotherapist for a couple of years now, and the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the diversity of problems from which people suffer. Two people with the same problem can easily have different reasons for creating that problem, and different motivations for giving it up. At my office in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, I’ve found that by far the best approach is to treat everyone as individuals.

The reason why I say that people ‘create’ their problem is because the only world that really exists, is the one we create within our own minds. However, since we are creatures of habit, and regularly hard wire our nervous system to perform specific acts, emotions and behaviours, it becomes easier to understand how people believe that the problem is not only outside of them, but outside of their control. When Patients come to see me for a hypnotherapy consultation at my office in Hemel Hempstead (Herts), I regularly explain to them the way in which the brain takes in, filter and represents information to consistently produce specific states.

Hypnosis enables your mind to focus concentration, producing a state of deep relaxation. Throughout this process, your mind is more open to suggestion, allowing you to make changes in your perception and behaviour, for the benefit of your health.

Using your imagination is a mild form of self- hypnosis. During hypnotherapy the trance is aided by your focus on the hypnotherapist’s voice. When you focus in this way you are able to ignore, if you want to, the great deal of other distractions that may be around you.

Whilst in hypnosis you are neither fully awake nor fully asleep. However deeply you may go into hypnosis, you will remain in control of the situation and will continue to receive important sensory data.

When using hypnotherapy at my office in Hemel Hempstead (Hertfordshire), I also provide a relaxing, therapeutic situation using music. Throughout the hypnotherapy session, the music is played which gradually encourages the slowing of the heart rate, in time with the slowing beat of the music. Interwoven into the music are pleasantly distorted nursery rhymes that again encourage the gentle dozing that was experienced as a child. Using a specially created sound system, my voice and hypnotic words are spoken over the music.

Hypnotherapy in Hemel Hempstead has helped many people throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckingham to overcome minor and more serious problems. We live stressful and pressured lives, and it’s good to know that there are ways to relieve these problems without pumping our bodies full of drugs. In fact, hypnosis has been accepted as a valid therapeutic technique by the British Medical Association since 1955. Conventional medicine is more aware of the connection between body and mind and to achieve a sense of well-being, harmony must be maintained in both.

Has Asthma Got You Totally Choked Up? Control Attacks by Using Hypnotherapy as a Treatment

Allergies are one of the most universal medical problems affecting Americans these days. An allergic reaction is an immune system reaction to a stimulus from the environment. The body mistakenly counts the stimulus as unsafe, and tries to attack it, causing the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The frequent symptoms include an itching or runny nose, wheezing, coughing and irritated eyes.

One very widespread type of allergy is asthma. It is a chronic allergy that directly affects the lungs and air passages in the body. The air passages are easily irritated by allergens and a thick lining of mucus builds up. Allergens and other stimuli can bring on an asthma attack, including pollen, smoke, temperature changes and humidity changes. Usually, an asthma attack has various respiratory symptoms, including coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing. Another asthma symptom is shortness of breath.

Symptoms of an asthma attack are caused by the air passageways reacting to the allergen or trigger. When exposed to a trigger, the airways become irritated and contract, resulting in the respiratory symptoms. These symptoms may range from moderate to life threatening, depending on the severity of the allergy. Any asthma symptom can be upsetting, and should be taken seriously.

Asthma is commonly diagnosed in childhood, because symptoms tend to manifest by the age of 5. At present, it affects around ten to twelve percent of all children, and has been steadily mounting. There is no conclusive known reason for the rise, but risk factors include exposure to cigarette smoke, other allergies and a history of other respiratory infections. Also, the odds of being diagnosed are amplified in males and African Americans.

At this point in time there are numerous different types of asthma medicines and treatments that may efficiently diminish symptoms. Two main types of asthma medication are fast-acting medicine to treat symptoms during an attack, and controlling medicine, which is taken regularly to decrease the chance of having an attack. Short-acting Beta-2 Antagonists (SABAs) are bronchodilators, which is a type of fast acting drug that facilitates opening airways and relieving the symptoms of an attack, and are typically administered through asthma inhalers. This type of medicine does not treat the inflammation that causes an attack, but is advantageous when taken during an attack, and will last for three to six hours after it is given.

Controlling asthma medication is taken regularly and treats the underlying causes of the attacks. The most universal types of this medicine are inhalers containing a steroid that reduces inflammation in the airways and lungs and Long-Acting Beta-2 Antagonists (LABAs). The effects of long-acting asthma inhalers typically last for twelve hours, and may lower the number of attacks that happen while the asthmatic is asleep. A lot of medicines have very harsh side effects for some people.

Various types of asthma treatment alternative therapies are presently becoming more popular. Some alternative approaches concentrate just on precautional care, such as not smoking during pregnancy or around babies, including a selenium-rich diet or eliminating sources of allergy causing substances in the home. Some other treatment modalities include taking off weight, increasing Omega-3 intake, diminishing Omega-6 intake, acupuncture, relaxation techniques and hypnotherapy. It is significant to note that any type of alternative therapy is intended to be used in conjunction with medical advice, because fast-acting medications are often required for an acute asthma attack.

One method that is becoming more popular is hypnosis or hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for asthma has the goal of causing the relaxation response, which can serve to prevent or diminish your symptoms when having an attack. Some other alternative types of asthma treatment also employ relaxation as a way to eliminate symptoms, such as with meditation programs.

Using hypnotherapy, the individual can treat the emotional elements of an attack, which have the ability to make an asthma attack much more severe. It is human nature to get scared or feel vulnerable when we experience our air supply being cut off. This instinctual reaction in reality may heighten the strength of an attack. Similar feelings of fear and dread about having an attack can actually bring on an attack. These emotional causes and responses are handled with the asthma treatment method of self-hypnosis.

Hypnotism has been established to be an extremely powerful asthma treatment. With a trained hypnotherapist, or using one of the several recorded programs available, an individual can easily slip into a relaxed hypnotic state, and start to take charge over breathing and bodily functions. One of the best techniques is to learn how to use self-hypnosis to actually abort an impending attack. The self-hypnosis method of asthma treatment is tremendously successful, and may work well for those who cannot take or do not want to take prescription medicines regularly. Which asthma treatment you choose depends both on the severity of your symptoms and what method of treatment that works well for your symptoms.

Alan B. Densky, CH is certified by the NGH. He has perfected several hypnosis and NLP methods that are powerful asthma treatments. His Neuro-VISION self-hypnosis website provides a large range of hypnotherapy programs. Visit for Free hypnotherapy videos, articles, and newsletters.

What Do You Need To Undertake A Hypnotherapy Training Course

it seems rather easy to undertake hypnotherapy training, there are many things that you must consider first. In fact, many of the things that you\\\’ll read about here are not discussed often. Before you take up training, consider this…

Just who can be trained to be a hypnotherapist?

Complementary therapy is a good deal on the climb these days, likely as it\\\’s considered by a lot of people as more \\\’natural\\\’ than the man-made intervention of medication. Among the most natural of all is hypnotherapy; it doesn\\\’t rely on any products and uses just the ability of the client\\\’s/patient\\\’s own mind to effect an easing of symptoms which can be amazingly profound.

Presently, hypnotherapy is an unregulated profession which means that virtually anyone could just create a new practice, whether or not they had undertaken any conventional study. The reality is, though, that it\\\’s unlikely they would survive for very long in practice without the proper resources to do the job – in order to be successful, testimonials from satisfied \\\’clients\\\’ is an all important aspect of the hypnotherapist\\\’s survival.

So, how do you go about hypnotherapy training, how do you recognise you\\\’ve received appropriate training, and what should that course teach you?

Well, patently, how to take people in and out of hypnosis with absolute safety and self-confidence. That part of the job is so easy that anyone can learn how to do it – as long as they can have a sensible conversation with someone, they can learn to be a hypnotist. But a hypnotist isn\\\’t a hypnotherapist. And that\\\’s where the calibre of training is so crucial. As well as hypnosis, effective training should:

– Teach you what do to if something unforeseen comes about

– Offer total post-graduate support

– Confer the ability for enrolment with a reputable professional association

– Teach you about the promotional side of the business

– Give you an understanding of the way the human psyche \\\’works\\\’

– Show you how to decide on what style of therapy is called for

As you might guess, there\\\’s a lot more to it than that but any course worth its salt will be founded around those standards and because of this it should already be obvious that the \\\’do it in a weekend\\\’ course is going to fall far short of requirements.

Good training will consist of approximately 120 hours of practical and theory in the classroom and a further 450 hours of home study and assignments. Once this is finished and you\\\’ve your hypnotherapy training diploma in your hand, there are plentiful chances for additional study to take you to the very top of a totally absorbing tree.

So, there you have it. Now that you\\\’ve been given the means to find the appropriate hypnotherapy training course, the next step is up to you. Take this information and make use of it. It\\\’s easier to do nothing, but in the end you will thank yourself for having taken action on this.

Terence Watts makes hypnotherapy training easy with his own classrooms, consulting rooms and administrative offices at his hypnotherapy training school.

Hypnotherapy: Be Your Own Master and Commander

Hypnotherapy, as a word has been associated with a lot of mumbo-jumbo over the years. Whenever we think of hypnosis, we think of evil characters manipulating the actions of innocent individuals for their own selfish motives. But in the recent years there has been a lot of researches on the subject of hypnosis and the findings have been startling. Did you know that on an average almost all of us are in a trance/hypnotic state everyday without being aware of it? Did you know that hypnotherapy is not something restricted to mankind, but that even animals practice some form of it? Did you know that the ancient Egyptians used hypnosis as early as 3rd Century BC?

In the last few years hypnotherapy has emerged as a major tool for personality development and psychological healing. Everyone, yes everyone can benefit with the use of hypnosis in altering some personality traits or areas of concern in our lives. Hypnotherapy is in some sense like art, the more you practice, the better you get at it. That is why the old adage “practice makes perfect” fits hypnosis so well. I have always believed and instilled in my clients that hypnosis is a natural state, it is something as normal as breathing. We all get into trance like states everyday…remember those summer afternoons when your boss was talking nonstop in a meeting, and you found yourself drifting into a world of your own? That’s exactly what the state of hypnosis is like.

Hypnosis is a relaxed state of mind, where we connect with our subconscious mind; it is similar to meditation but the difference lies in the fact that with hypnosis you do not disconnect with the present world, but are aware of it completely. A person who is being hypnotized is in control of the process all through, and no, you cannot be hypnotized against your will. Neither will you ever get stuck within a hypnotic state; all that might happen to you is that you might doze off in a particularly effective hypnotherapy session.

Just imagine what the future could be like if you realized that you had the power to change it. Does the idea seem like something out of a fantasy? There is every reason for you to feel that it is impossible to miraculously change things about yourself, and create a new you. You are not to be blamed; it is the way we have been conditioned in society. It makes us think that the power to change ourselves and our lives lies not with us but with some mysterious entity. But I am here to tell you that the power lies within you, all you need to do is search for it inside. Hypnotherapy is a tool which can help you reach that power, and help you unleash the true potential of your subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy can be used to help you work on your confidence, to increase your intuitive powers, for a positive self image, to cure you of smoking or drinking and to gain insight amongst other things. You can help realign and re-educate your subconscious mind through the use of hypnosis.

The Foremost Nail-Biting Solution Is Hypnotherapy

The underlying causes of most physical habits may be quite varied, and rooted at different psychological levels. Although hypnotherapy has a wide range of uses, the behaviors that are most directly related to physical habits are typically the ones that can be treated with hypnotherapy most immediately and directly. Smoking cessation is the most well known of these, and is one of the most successful and less invasive techniques for reaching its goal. Another common area for hypnotherapy treatment is for weight reduction. Similarly, hypnotherapy is also the best technique for ending a nail biting habit.

The nail biting habit has much in common with smoking. It is a ritualistic, physical habit. Either might be caused by the mechanics of a simple physical routine, or may perhaps be indicative of deeper psychological root causes. And in either case the habit itself can be very effectively halted with hypnotherapy.

Discovering and resolving underlying psychological issues, which are exhibited in nail biting and smoking can be a process that requires numerous sessions with a knowledgeable hypnotherapist. Not all hypnotists and hypnotherapists are capable of working at the deep psychological level. Fortunately, for the purposes of eliminating a smoking or a nail biting habit, they are not required to work below the most direct physical level.

The immediate goal of finding a nail biting cure is far more straightforward. Many of our deeper psychological and emotional states are impacted by our physical state, so in solving the physical symptoms directly, we are also able to have an indirect impact on deeper issues. In addition, not all negative physical behaviors have underlying causes; sometimes it is merely just a physical habit; it just “feels” good for the individual to take part in them.

I have seen that the focused and relaxed state of hypnosis can achieve nearly miraculous results when used in causing simple physical state changes. Whenever I eliminate severe burn pain, remove nausea, and solve other physical symptoms for a client in just a few seconds, it still surprises and amazes me, even though I am supposedly the one with the “power” (although as we know, the true power exists within the client’s unconscious mind). The capabilities exist in each of our minds to block severe pain and nausea; so the ability to prevent one from biting their nails is a modest goal in comparison.

I have found three of the powerful aspects of hypnotherapy to be anchoring, substitution and association. With association, one can link the undesirable behavior to something aversive; with substitution, one can replace the bad habit with an innocuous one; with anchoring, one can connect physical movement triggers with alternative feelings and behaviors.

With association, just like the simple hypnotic phenomenon can make a piece of white bread taste like the most delectable New York Cheesecake to a subject, one can make the feeling and taste of nail biting to be extremely distasteful. If your subject is consistently and repeatedly conditioned that the taste and feel of nail biting is very unpleasant, it will help to cause the habit to cease.

There are chemical products that achieve this goal via foul tasting nail polish. However, with a mental association it is easy to stop nail biting without relying on consistently applying a chemical product. This “aversion” type of therapy generally isn’t very helpful. But it is only reliable when used as an adjunct to eliminating stress that causes one to bite their nails, as well as extinguishing conditioned responses (unconscious associations), which triggers one to bite their nails.

With substitution, it can be effective to replace the nail-biting behavior with a more benign affliction. For instance, it is quite effective to make the suggestion that whenever one feels the impulses that lead them towards nail biting, they will take a deep breath instead, and slowly exhale, achieving all the same feelings and resolution that nail biting used to bring. I have found the deep breathing substitute to be very effective for a wide range of problems.

Similarly, anchoring can be used to subvert one action into another, and works well with association and substitution. It is useful to create the suggestion that each and every time subjects see their fingers coming to their mouth, they vividly remember the unpleasant taste association, and they instead take a deep breath to resolve the tension.

In summary, hypnotherapy has been recognized as one of the most successful methods for negative habit modification. Just as with smoking cessation, the techniques and concepts discussed here prove to be very successful as a long-term nail-biting solution.

Depression Hypnotherapy

Depression, as understood within depression hypnotherapy, is not a passing low mood, nor is it a sign of personal weakness or a condition that sufferers can spontaneously “snap out of”. It can destroy lives – not only the life of the sufferer themselves, but also the lives of those close to them.

Depression comes in many different forms, and from a wide range of causes. Some types of depression run in families, indicating genetic pre-disposition or psychosocial conditioning. Other forms can be triggered by organic causes, as a reaction to medication, a chemical imbalance, or result from interpretations of past experiences.

The cost of depression in human suffering cannot be over stated. People with depression typically demonstrate persistant sad or anxious moods, experience low self-confidence, negative thoughts, feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, emptiness, guilt and worthlessness. They often display a loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed, demonstrate increased fatigue, have difficulty concentrating, remembering and making decisions. In extreme cases, depression can result in thoughts of death or *******.

At a physical level, depression can affect sleep, either difficulty in getting to sleep, early-morning awakening, or a desire to oversleep. It can also affect the appetite leading to weight loss or weight gain. Long term depression tends to lower the immune system and typically results in persistent symptoms such as headaches, digestive disorders and even chronic pain.

But much of this suffering is unnecessary. Appropriate treatment can help most people who suffer from depression. In Western societies, 7 to 12 per cent of men experience diagnosable depression, and 20 to 25 per cent of women. But, many people with depression do not recognise that it is a treatable illness, and so endure life without receiving help. The first step to getting appropriate treatment is to seek medical advice. Treatment choice will then depend on the outcome of that medical evaluation.

Depression hypnotherapy, a very specific and enduringly effective form of ‘talking therapy’, has been shown to be a highly effective treatment for overcoming depression and helping people find lasting emotional well-being.

Christine Woolfenden, clinical hypnotherapist of Echelon Associates Hypnotherapy Practice (www.echelonassociates.co.uk) employs depression hypnotherapy to help individuals understand the source of their own unique emotional difficulties. Hypnosis is used to encourage relaxation, to focus the attention and then to identify and explore the causes, de-sensitise memories of the past, address the symptoms, and control the physical, emotional and cognitive responses to the triggers as they present themselves in the individual’s life.

Depression hypnotherapy offers people the opportunity to identify and develop their own inner resources to lead a more positive, emotionally fulfilling life, counteracting the negative physical side effects of depression, rationalising self-defeating thoughts and beliefs, re-programming the mind and body to respond positively to situations, people and events, turning problems into goals, building self-confidence and feelings of self-worth along the way.

Chris responds to her clients with integrity and respect, taking a compassionate yet goal directed approach to applying depression hypnotherapy to facilitate lasting emotional health.

Let Hypnotherapy Take Care Of Your Business Responsibilities

Every business manager is aware of the responsibilities they have towards not only their business but to their staff as well. These responsibilities seem to grow each year and the burden upon owners and managers increases with it. But with the use of hypnotherapy these burdens can be reduced and even eliminated. If you are not sure exactly what I mean here are just a few of the responsibilities that I hope this article will be able to help you control more easily.

The first one is an obvious one when you sit back and think about it and has been associated with hypnotherapy for a long time now. Helping your staff to stop smoking, especially with the new non smoking regulations that have recently come into force will not only help improve the health of your employees, but it will lead to less time away from their work stations and fewer days off ill.

One of the biggest problems in all types of industries, large, medium and small in these hectic times is stress management. Stress is in there fighting for the top position as being the cause for staff taking time off of work, poor performances and working relationships between co-workers. Hypnotherapy can help you control stress in the work place bringing stress levels down to create a more harmonious and healthy working environment for everyone involved. Another benefit is that people will be less likely to take the stress home with them therefore creating a better lifestyle in all areas of their lives.

Do you and your staff need help in generating more motivation, better target setting, increased presentation skills or higher creativity levels? Even if they do not, just think what hypnotherapy could bring to an already successful team, if you could increase all of those areas by just one percent! It would of course mean even better performances and higher rewards for everyone and surely that is what you went into business for in the first place. These are just a few of the things that hypnotherapy can help any business with, taking the responsibility off of the backs of owners and managers and letting them concentrate on the job at hand.

Hypnotherapy can be a great tool for any business to invest in and pass that investment onto the personal development of all involved, from the cleaner up to the chairman. The beauty of being taught how to use hypnotherapy is that once mastered any individual can use self hypnosis to continue on their own personal development, so the benefits go on and on and on.

Steve Tallamy uses his web site to help people from all walks of life through his own life experiences to demonstrate that success via self development and hypnosis in particular is possible for everyone to achieve. What To Look For In An NLP And Hypnotherapy Trainer

NLP and Hypnotherapy are fast growing must-have skills these days. However, in a market where practically anyone can call themselves a practitioner, how do you know that the company or individual training you, is professionally qualified and skilled in the area of expertise. Do you know how to tell the difference between Joe Bloggs off the street who’s spent a few hours reading books on the subject in comparison to the major trainers who have really invested their time and knowledge in the stuff?

I work for a company called People Building, who provide NLP and Hypnotherapy training in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I would like to share with you the experience I had when looking for an NLP and Hypnotherapy Trainer.

When I decided that I wanted to do the training course, I began my search for a trainer, as many people do, on the internet. I didn’t realise quite how many NLP and Hypnotherapy Trainers there were out there! Even just throughout Herts, Beds, Bucks and London, the Google pages were littered. My main priorities at the time were to find a training course that offered both NLP and Hypnotherapy within the one course, that fitted in with my budget, that were fairly local to me in Hertfordshire. It turned out that a very popular ex stage hypnotist had teamed up with one of the significant figures of NLP and was running a course in London. However, to do both the NLP and Hypnotherapy training course was almost double the money I had available. Later, a friend I had met at a Tony Robbins event, said that they had done the NLP training course with that particular company, and that the group sizes were enormous. This meant that if someone felt confused or unsure at any point, it was difficult for them to put up their hand and ask questions. They also said that the training course had taught “mainly the unconscious mind.” Which meant that they had learnt everything they needed to know, they just didn’t know that they knew it. I eventually found a training course, but it was very far from home. It turned out to be quite an adventure and I met many new friends. My only complaint was that I felt I had only been given the tip of the iceberg, I came away wanting more, much, much more. And the more fellow NLPer’s I met, the more than me, they seemed to know. I ended up re-doing my NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner trainings (so I paid twice as much as I’d wanted to after all!)

Now I’m qualified as a Trainer myself, and I run an NLP and Hypnotherapy Training school that provides training courses throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London. Obviously, my style isn’t for everyone, not everybody will like me, but I thought that what would be useful for everyone, is for my website to be a useful resource for anyone who is planning on doing NLP or Hypnotherapy training courses. That’s why I have included on there all of our course contents, what to look for in a trainer, and what to look for in a training course. So to whet your appetite, here are a few tips, but please visit our website for more.
